Pedigree Breeder of the Year
Supported by
The Pedigree Breeder of the Year Award celebrates the dedication and impact of breeders working to secure the future of pedigree pigs in the UK. With many exceptional members already contributing to conservation efforts, the award also highlights the vital need for new breeders to join the association, develop successful pork businesses, and actively support conservation breeding programmes.
Organised by the British Pig Association, the awards are independently judged by a panel of experts, ensuring a fair and robust process that recognises true excellence across the sector. Entry is open to Association members, with submissions evaluated and shortlisted candidates potentially interviewed either by video conference or during a farm visit.
To reflect the breadth of achievement within the pedigree pig community, the awards are divided into three categories: Conservation Breeder of the Year, Pedigree Pork Producer of the Year, and New Pedigree Breeder of the Year. Together, they recognise excellence across conservation, sustainable production, and the development of the next generation of breeders. Though, only one will be crowned Pedigree Breeder of the Year, recognising their exceptional contribution to the future of pedigree pig breeding.
